Notes on Installing Railroad-Professional

You may see the following information after starting the Railroad-Professional installation program (1st image):

Windows SmartScreen-Warnung Windows SmartScreen-Warnung

We can guarantee that Railroad-Professional does not contain malware (viruses, trojans, or similar)! This is a precautionary warning on the part of Windows, which appears because we have only recently put the latest version of Railroad-Professional online and it is therefore not yet known to Microsoft long enough. Please click on "More info" and in the window that appears (2nd image), select "Run anyway":

Then follow the installation instructions.

If you have activated Windows Defender as protection software and also enabled the Controlled folder access option in its settings, you may receive the following notice right after launching the installation program:

Windows Defender-Warnung

Again, the reason is that Microsoft has not known our latest program version long enough and Windows Defender therefore blocks the write access of our installation routine to several directories. Without write access, however, the relevant directories and files cannot be created by our installation routine. In this case, you must disable the Monitored Folder Access option in the Windows Defender settings before installation! After completing the installation of Railroad-Professional, you can switch the option back on. How to enable/disable Monitored Folder Access is explained e.g. on Microsoft's support page.

One or the other protection software from other manufacturers has a similar option with the same effect. Please temporarily disable the protection there as well.

Alternatively, you can also download the previous version 3.3 via our program archive. This is known to Microsoft for quite some time and therefore you will not see any of the above warning there. However, it does not contain the very latest features.

We wish you much success and fun with the track planning,

Your Railroad-Professional Team.
